Sunshine Festival Crop Top

You need:
Scissor
Measuring tape
3.5mm crochet hook/ any hook size to obtain gauge
Gauge 15 dc =2.5 x 0.5 inch

Yarn (sport/light worsted)
(approx. 50g of white yarn and a little bit of multicolour yarn of your choice)
In this tutorial I use acrylic but you can use cotton or any type of yarn you like

Stitches used: Ch, sl st, sc, dc, trc

If you worry about this top being see through just sew a lining/bra pads.
However, if you use darker yarn colour it won't be noticeable or just use smaller hook size for tighter stitch.

This top will fit size S-M. For larger size add a few more foundation chains and more rows till you're satisfied with the coverage.

In this tutorial I am making the crochet shorts based on my measurement, probably fit size S/M. You can make this shorts based on your own measurement.

You will need:
4.5mm crochet hook/any hook size to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 2 rows of 10 dc = 2.0 x 1.0 inch

You can use smaller hook size if you want the hole to be smaller and make the shorts less see through.

I used about 150g acrylic yarn.
You can use cotton (sport/light worsted) or any type of yarn you like.

Stiches used: ch, sl st, sc, dc, v-stitch

V-stitch (VS) =  skip nxt st, (dc, ch 1, dc) in nxt st, skip nxt st

Instructions:

Legs (Make 2)

Measure around your thigh loosely.
Make a chain based on your measurement.
Mine is 23 inch = 110 ch

Begin with a slip knot and ch 110. Sl st in the first ch.

Round 1:
Ch 1, sc around, sl st in first ch 1.

Round 2:
Ch 3, * VS, dc in nxt 2 sts*.
Repeat *to* around, VS, dc in nxt st, sl st in top of ch 3.

Round 3-8:
Repeat round 2. Ch 1, fasten off.

You can make the leg as long as you want.

Make another one. Do not cut off yarn.

Now we are going to attach the legs together with a slip stitch.

For size S/M join until 3.0-3.5 inch and L/XL about 4.0-4.5 or until you feel it's enough for your crotch area

Refer to the video tutorial on how to attach the legs together with a slip stitch.
You can also sew the legs together with whip stitch by using tapestry needle.

Continue without cutting off yarn.
Sl st in nxt st. Next round will count as round 9.

Round 9-10:
Repeat round 2. When you reach the backside where the two pieces joined, after the VS make 1 dc in right leg and 1 dc in left leg.

Now we are going to decrease 1 stitch both sides and eliminate the 2 dc in between as we go up.

Round 11:
Ch 3, VS, 2dctog in nxt 2 sts, repeat *to* around, 2dctog in the last 2 dc sts, VS, dc in nxt st, sl st in top of ch 3.

Round 12:
Ch 3, VS, dc in top of 2dctog, repeat *to* around, dc in top of 2dctog, VS, dc in nxt st, sl st in top of ch 3.

Round 13:
Ch 3,VS, skip the nxt 3 sts, repeat*to*, skip the nxt 3 sts, 2 VS, dc in nxt st, sl st in top of ch 3.

Keep on decreasing the stitches on both sides following the previous pattern.

Round 14-30:
Repeat round 11-13.

You should get 7 VS without the 2 dc in between on each sides.

Round 31:
Ch 1, sc in each sts around but skip all 1-ch-sp, sl st in first ch 1.

Round 32:
Ch 3, dc in each sts around, sl st in top of ch 3.

Round 33:
Ch 1, sc in each sts around, sl st in first ch 1. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Continue to make the drawstring.
You can also use elastic band for the waist instead of drawstring.
Chain two yarns together for about 200 ch or as long as you want.

Insert drawstring in the dc spaces.
Skip 5 dc each side and insert yarn every 4 dc.
In the middle you should get 10 dc, 5 dc each side.

You can put beads at the end of the drawstring if you want.

And we’re done.
Yippie :)

This pattern is easy to follow and you can adjust the size by adding more cross stitch and increase the rows. You can make a larger cowl by using bulky yarn and a bigger hook size.

You can download the ads-free clean printable PDF version of this pattern here.

Hook:
6.5mm crochet hook

Yarn:
Cotton yarn (approx. 100g)

Check your gauge 7 dc = 2.0 x 1.0 inch. Use any hook size to obtain gauge.

Stitches used:
chain (ch), slip stitch (sl st), double crochet (dc)

Cross stitch (CS):
Skip nxt 2 sts, dc in nxt st, ch 1, dc backward in first st of skipped 2 sts

~Please refer to the video tutorial if you can’t understand any part of the pattern~

Instructions:

Begin with a slip knot and chain 27.

Row 1:
Dc in 4th ch from hook, *Skip nxt 2 sts, dc in nxt st, ch 1, dc backward in first st of skipped 2 sts* = 1 cross stitch (CS), repeat * to * 6 times. Dc in the nxt 2 sts. Turn (Total 7 CS).

Row 2:
Ch 3, dc, 7 CS, dc in nxt 2 sts. Turn.

Row 3- 35:
Repeat Row 2.

Now we are going to join two sides of the cowl together.
Fold your cowl (facing the wrong side), join with a slip stitch.

Ch 2, cut and fasten off. Weave in ends.
Flip your cowl right side out.

And we’re done.
Yippie yeay!
