Lately I've been trying to design a crochet dress/top where I never have to stop crocheting and join all the pieces together later (except when I need to join a new yarn ;p). So I came up with this simple and easy design and I have a lot of ideas using different kind of stitches using the same exact method to create this dress.
This dress is quite easy to make and simply adjustable to any sizes if you understand the steps. I suggest you to watch the video tutorial on my YouTube channel before you try making this dress, so you can get an idea on how exactly this dress was made. You can also try designing your own pattern using the same exact method.
I made a summary for the pattern below for all sizes so you can simply refer to it later without having to watch the video all over again once you understand how to do the increase/decrease and shoulder strap.
Have fun crocheting :)

Hello. I was wondering if you could help me with converting to a L\XL. I am having a hard time understanding the numbers in the }. Please help
ReplyDeleteHi, have you watch the video? It will help you to understand. The stitches for the waistline is the same for every row (12 hdc, 7 sc, 7 hdc).
DeleteYou're going to start with the left armhole, make 1 row before you start to increase in the nxt 9 rows. Then ch 29 and make 5 rows for the 1st front strap. Cont. with the front neckline 9 rows of dec, 1 row without dec, 9 rows of inc. Ch 29, 5 rows for the 2nd front strap. Right armhole 9 rows of dec, 1 row without dec, 9 rows of inc.
Ch 29, 5 rows for the 1st back strap.
Cont. with the back neckline 3 rows of dec, 13 row without dec, 3 rows of inc. Ch 29, 5 rows for the 2nd back strap. Left armhole 9 rows of dec. Join with the first row.
Hope that helps.
You are very talented and so kind to share = ] I'm looking forward to making this and adding some sleeves. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words and hope your dress turns out well. Happy crocheting :)
DeleteHi Esther im usimg the 3.5 hook and a 4ply impeccable acrylic yarn amd my gauge is comomg out to be 3"x1"...how will this alter the dress? Or how do i fix it?
ReplyDeleteHi, sorry for the late reply..i think there will be no big difference, since this pattern works from side to side.. maybe your dress will be slightly an inch longer.
DeleteI would like the back to be a but higher than the front.
ReplyDeleteHi, just follow the same pattern but add more stitches at the back neckline.
DeleteHi I purchased the pattern, I don't want it to be sheer, but do I still chain the 1 or is it just double crochet until the stitch marker?
ReplyDeleteHi, if you don't want it to be sheer don't chain 1 and skip a stitch, just double crochet till the end of row.
DeleteEster I came this pattern as I was searching for a swim suit cover up. I was wondering how to make it longer with a split on the side with the bottom half of being the double crochet chain 1. Any pointers?
ReplyDeleteHello, with not making it sheer, after just DC in every other stitch how do I do the next row? Do I still double crochet in the space between?
ReplyDeletehello
